Marshside RSPB and c50 Common Tern on the Ribble

We took a trip across the water to Marshside for the first time in a while.  Plenty to see including Avocet, Black-tailed Godwits and a couple of Little Gulls still present.  There was also a Bar-headed Goose in with the Canada Geese.

We then headed on to Preston Dock where we saw c100 Common Tern and 1 Arctic Tern (although there are 2 there).

At 20:00 I headed down the Ribble Estuary (Lytham Jetty) and just like last night the conditions were glorious.  Skylarks, House Martins, Meadow Pipits, Goldfinch, Swallows - plenty going on.  Like last night there were Common Terns present but on arrival I only counted 8.  By the time I left at 21:00 there were 47!  There was also 1 Arctic Tern that I saw, the streamers were noticeably longer and the underparts a darker grey clearly contrasting with the white of the tail.  Again, like last night a Little Gull flew over and 9 immature Grey Heron were dotted across the waters edge.
