Ribble Estuary

At risk of sounding a bit soft,  it was a magical evening on the estuary tonight.  There was not so much as a breath of wind in the air and the water was so still it looked like ice.  The main highlight of the evening was seeing 15 Common Tern diving for fish.  They put on an impressive display for over an hour and kept a couple of young families entertained which was nice.  During this time a Little Gull flew over which was a very nice surprise.  At 21:00 c50 Canada Goose flew in, half from the East and the other half from the North West.  2 Curlew flew over and there were c30 Ringed Plover that I could see but a couple said there were 100+ at their usual haunt opposite Seafield Road.  6 Grey Heron,  numerous Eider on the Southport side and the usual Oystercatcher and Shelduck.
